2016 Exmoor

The Rockford Inn, Exmoor. Recommended by friends the Rockford Inn is hard to find on maps, but is a fine place to spend an autumn weekend. A Portugese restaurant? in Bridgwater beckoned on the way to Friday’s meet and walk around Holford, with or without sandwiches ended with cream teas, for those that were allowed, at the posh Combe Hotel. No further trouble with Fish & Chip friday at the pub and a game of Qwirkel Cubes.

Saturday’s weather encouraged Birch Polypore (Piptoporus betulinus) and Puffballs on a stroll to Lynmouth through sunshine & splendid foliage. Wicked Wolf Gin and a Strictly knowledgeable landlord surprised the ladies, before another homely meal and a Qwirkel penalty shoot out.

Everyone say “Marlowe”

Avoiding the £5 parking charge we finished on Sunday with a gentle amble (or not) through the Valley of Rocks ending with soup, a “brick” and Mackerel at a Lebanese, vegetarian cafe – The Vanilla Pod. (Check your sources Mr C!)
