Ticknall 20 minutes from Derby. Well worth a visit for the house and gardens oh of course and a cafe. We were lucky to find someone playing the piano, perfect place to come and practice, if only they had Chatsworth’s violin for some duets
The tunnel to the stables is quite a feature, yet the unrestored rooms with a ridiculous number of stuffed birds on display give the place more character than any NT property we’ve stumbled on for a long time. Highly recommended for a half day
