With the Baker-Faulkners pitiful excuse still ringing loudly in our ears, 31 folk descended on this YHA. This easy to find, yet difficult to leave hostel is protected by a track suitable only for the more robust vehicle and the plucky driver. Having made it and then off to the Inn on the Wye for dinner, Saturday brought a deluge of almost biblical proportions with Noah Trowell leading a gang up and over to Symond’s Yat, with others scattered towards the unwelcoming Saracens Head, and the “Tour de Borderlands Two”, messrs Foley & Cejer avoiding rain from the heavens alone and adding detritus and puddles from the Herefordshire lanes. Andy’s & Ian’s quiz plus Port & Cheese ended a delightful evening shared by a slice of Strictly and Rugby sandwich.
You can only do this in a YHA, so forget this talk of B&B, cottages and the like and stick with the formula and put up with the minor discomforts to enjoy a wonderful weekend
