The Tough of the Track appeared in the Victor comic. The images are priv-eigt and of course copyrighted by the owner
The stories are familiar with posh boys playing tricks on Tupper to try and beat him, but he invariably triumphs in adversity and celebrates with a meal of fish and chips.In the story I found above published 14-June-1980 he is running at a college in the US and runners trick him into thinking his friend has just been injured in a field event as they run around. He of course catches up and beats them.
Of course in the comic he was also the agony aunt answering questions from readers. What a busy boy
There are a group the Alf Tupper Harriers, but I believe using the name is sacrilege, hence a chosen pseudonym of Ralf – enough to pay homage and not disrespect the hero in our hearts.
