This is compulsory, so don’t get caught out – you will need winter tyres at e14 per day AND insurance to remove the e800-1000 excess, and an 8 euro vignette to drive in Austria. Check your ski insurance – does your policy specifically cover Rental skis, and if so what is the limit and Excess? Our skis were STOLEN from the hotel ski room, before we even got to ski on them – it happens once a year. So if your limit for equipment is £250, then consider the cost per day of Insurance from the hire shop. e1000 skis are easy to hire if you like flash equipment, and a policy which only recovers £250 isn’t much use.
The Hotel Schutz was pleasant with an apartment room for 4 perfect, and help from Witek the Polish manager and Clive the English waiter was welcome. We took our snow shoes. It snowed a lot.
We took in Salzburg Christmas market and stayed in Hallwang at the Gut Kirchbichl.
