- Aug-25: Buscot Park (NT). Infrequently open so needs checking before you go, but in the sunshine a decent visit. With more portraits to dust than wall remaining it seems the pre-raphaelite decoration is a thing. Pleasant walk down the water gardens to the lake too. Yes, go again but not a great Thames path walk
- Apr-24: Powis castle, Welshpool. Beautiful landscaped Yew-hedged gardens but a disappointingly dull castle interior. We’ve seen queen’s beds although TBF not with a low fence and gate entry, drawing rooms and plaster ceilings before but are they really that dramatic? Er, no. not really and it was really dark to protect the interior. No point at all.
- Dec-23: Dyrham Park nr Bath (NT). Yes it was cold but this was disappointing. The rooms did have Christmas themes from the ages, but probably worth going when the weather is better and you can enjoy the gardens
- Oct-23: Avebury Manor (NT) on a rainy day with dressing up and touch anything you like. Plus a 4 apple tasting, crushing & drinking with some delightful ladies. Followed a day later with Fox Talbot and Lacock Abbey and a camera obscura and tourists. A subsequent December visit has the Great Hall is made up for Christmas with a decorated tree and a display of children’s toys. The Cloister had Christmas trees decorated by local community groups
- Sep-23: Newark Park Glos (NT). With Gill, but not Noel. Tudor hunting lodge upscaled to Georgian property. Great Model showing its’ development, a dressing up room and wonderful views.
- Aug-23: Tyntesfield (NT). Kitchens, servants and consecrated chapel in Gothic.
- Jul-23: Uppark House West Sussex (NT).
- Jun-23: Charlecote Warwickshire (NT). On the way back from the north.
